Long-lost 1906 film of San Francisco after the earthquake surfaces at flea market — SFGate

"A nitrate film reel with nine minutes of footage capturing San Francisco two weeks after the 1906 earthquake surfaced at the Alemany Flea Market, and this rare find reveals a startlingly clear view of a city in ruins."

Look at the vehicles--think how much proprioceptive and vestibular input a body used to get in a day, compared to today's long wheelbases, smooth roads, fancy shocks. I wonder how much that affects our children, to have such a smooth childhood?

You have to check out this video, especially if you're an old-tyme-y buff like I am. I can't wait to see the new one.
